I truly believe there are times we are meant to cross paths with particular people; for me, Jessica was one of those people. She discovered my work through instagram, and contacted me inquiring about a family session with her husband, their three year old daughter, and new baby girl. They lived three and a half hours north of me, but just minutes away from where I had already been planning to travel two weeks after her first email. The rest fell into place.

The bright midday sun flooded into their family room, creating the most lovely cocoon of soft diffused light. It was so beautiful to watch Jessica with her daughters. She spoke softly in Spanish to the baby, her bright blue eyes fixed on Jessica’s, smiling and cooing in response. Ryan fixed tea and cookies for the toddler, a welcomed reward for her sweet disposition throughout our time together.

It was such a privilege to preserve these intimate family moments. To witness the dynamic between new sisters, and that quiet but grand relationship between a mother and her new baby.

I am so in love with photographing families in their homes on film.  It’s a combination, that to me, just can’t be beat.  PLUS!  It’s perfect for those hot dry summer months, which will be here before we know it.  If you love photographs filled with love and light and real family interactions that you’ll be able to cherish for a lifetime, I’d love to hear from you!
